Why the same text looks different on another screen
Separate the characters you copied from the font, emoji artwork, and app rules that decide how they appear after pasting.

You copy a neat nickname, paste it into a profile, and see a different shape. A friend sees a square where you see a decoration. Sometimes the profile editor looks right but the saved name changes. These are not all the same problem, and repeatedly pressing Copy is unlikely to fix them all. Start by separating the text from the system that displays and accepts it.
This is the background behind our text tools, not a compatibility chart for particular apps. Our tool pages show specific examples and their limits. Here, the useful question is how to tell whether you are dealing with a different drawing, an unsupported character, or a destination that changed the text itself.
Copying text does not copy the font
A character has an identity in the text; a font supplies a shape used to draw it. Pasting ordinary text does not install the font you saw on the source website. Your destination chooses its own fonts and rendering behavior. A thin decoration may become heavier, sit on a different baseline, or occupy a different width without the underlying character changing.
This matters for carefully aligned bios. Spaces that line up next to a symbol on one screen may not produce the same arrangement on another. Enlarging the font, changing the available width, or viewing the profile in a different app can also change wrapping. Treat a text layout as flexible, not as a small poster with fixed positions. Keep words in a sensible reading order even when the intended spacing is lost.
A missing-glyph box is a clue, not a character diagnosis
Unicode's guidance on unsupported characters distinguishes visible missing-glyph markers from characters intended to appear blank or invisible. A square or other placeholder can mean that the rendering system has no suitable glyph. It does not, by itself, tell you which character was present or prove that copying failed. Different unsupported characters can produce the same-looking box.
Try pasting the same text into another ordinary text field. If it appears there but not in the destination, that narrows the problem to the destination's display or handling. It does not guarantee that installing a font will fix the other person's screen. For a name people need to recognize, use the plain version if the result remains uncertain rather than asking everyone else to repair their device.
Emoji add another presentation layer
Some characters can have text-style or emoji-style presentations. Unicode's emoji specification describes these forms and the selectors used to request them. A request for a presentation is not a promise of identical artwork everywhere. Different implementations can draw the same emoji with different details, and an environment may not support the intended presentation.
Emoji can also be sequences rather than a single character. A supported sequence may appear as one picture; another system may display its parts separately. Copying only part of a sequence while selecting text can therefore change the result. When checking a decoration, compare the whole copied sequence, not just the part that looks like the main picture.
One visible item is not always one counted unit
The number next to an input box depends on what the tool counts. A letter and a combining accent can be separate code points while appearing together. Unicode's text-segmentation specification describes grapheme clusters used to approximate user-perceived characters, while also explaining why editing behavior can vary. Neither the visible width nor the number of keyboard presses reliably tells you a platform's limit.
This is why a short-looking bio can be rejected as too long. Do not assume our counter reproduces another service's rule. Use the counter as a description of its stated unit, then check the actual destination field. If a name is near a limit, simplify it and leave room rather than building a layout that depends on an unverified counting method.
The app may change the text, not just its appearance
Rendering is only one stage. A destination can reject an input, remove characters, or transform a stored string. Unicode's normalization specification describes several normalization forms, including compatibility transformations that can remove distinctions such as certain presentation variants. That explains one possible mechanism; it does not establish that any particular social network applies a particular form.
Look at the result after saving, not only in the editing box. If you can copy the saved text back, compare it with your original. A changed value points to more than a font difference. If the value is unchanged but its shape differs, rendering is a more plausible explanation. These observations help describe a problem accurately without guessing the app's undocumented internals.
A practical check before you change a profile
Keep the ordinary spelling somewhere you can recover it. Try one style at a time, and use a draft or preview if the destination offers one. Inspect the saved result, then check it in the view other people will actually use. If you have access to a second device, it can reveal a difference, but two successful views still do not prove support everywhere.
Keep essential information, especially a name people must type or search for, readable without decorations. If a visual arrangement carries meaning, write that meaning in words too. For example, a decorative separator should not be the only thing distinguishing a contact instruction from the rest of a bio. A plain fallback is useful even when your preferred style works on your own phone.
